AHERA Plans for Schools
Corwin Inspections is fully licensed to develop and write AHERA (Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act) plans. Commonly known as Asbestos in schools. This Act (from 1986) requires all primary and secondary schools (including field, houses, offices, buildings leased by the school district, maintenance garages, etc.) in the country to have an interior inspection for asbestos containing material performed and Management Plan produced to deal with the asbestos.
The AHERA plan includes an O & M plan as described below in addition to the other requirements listed by the Act for compliance. Technically, even new school buildings are still required to have an AHERA plan, since the inclusion of asbestos into building materials is not banned, although it is rare.
